I'm a pianist and composer who creates and performs music in a wide range of styles. On this channel I'm primarily focusing on sharing compositions and improvisations in a modern classical style. There isn't a lot of improvisation within the classical domain these days (though there is quite a bit of excellent composition work) - and I'm hoping to be one voice that changes that situation, or at least shows that it is possible and quite interesting. The musical potential in this style is incredible! I personally draw a lot of my harmonic language from the works of Chopin, Ravel, Debussy, Messiaen, Scriabin, and other great composers. I also like to weave in ideas from non-classical genres. Many of the pieces are through-composed, textural, and expressionist, and in some cases I like to explore different pianistic approaches and techniques that can be evocative in ways that more structured composition methods can't. I hope you find a few unexpected things in my music!
