As part of ground-breaking IGNITION Project tackling climate emergency in Greater Manchester, University of Salford hosts a Nature-based Solutions (NBS) Living Lab facility, which aims to demonstrate the benefits of green infrastructure (GI), economic and otherwise, by exploring innovative financing mechanisms and developing the arguments for NBS for research, investors and the wider public.
The Living Lab (under construction in 2020) houses various GI solutions for NBS on the University's Peel Park Campus including; living wall experimentation on Cockroft building, green roof and a number of different experimental green roof options on Lady Hale building, Sustainable Urban Drainage street trees outside New Adelphi building and a rain garden to the side of Clifford Whitworth building.
