Welcome to the Official Bathory Channel This is the official channel for Bathory, featuring the principal artist, Quorthon, under the Black Mark Production label. Bathory was an influential extreme metal band founded in Vällingby, Sweden, on March 16th, 1983. The band was named after the infamous countess and alleged serial killer from the Hungarian nobility, Erzsébet Báthory. The band was fronted by the vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Quorthon, who, during the 1980s, utilized a string of session players who typically only lasted one album cycle. Bathory is widely recognized as a pioneering band. Its first four albums are frequently cited as the foundational blueprint for the Black Metal genre. Later, toward the end of the 1980s, Bathory also pioneered the development of Viking Metal.
