ISABELLE BODENSEH jazzflutist
IMPROVISATION is my life philosophy.
It’s the space where intuition, freedom, and structure meet — and where my deep passion for the jazz flute was born.
Aesthetics, chamber-like interaction, and a wide range of colors and dynamics shape the sound of my ISABELLE BODENSEH Bands.
For more than 23 years I’ve also shared this passion as a lecturer at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts.
Whether played percussively, with virtuosity, or in a rough and earthy tone, the flute fascinates me just as much as its deeper sister, the bass flute, whose warm and relaxed sound opens new emotional spaces.
The breath that shapes the tone is audible like on no other wind instrument — giving the flute something intimate, fragile, and deeply honest.
In my music, influences from jazz, classical, Latin, rock, swing, and funk flow naturally together.
I’m constantly searching for an authentic sound and improvisations that tell stories.
“I love what I do.”
