Michael May was born and raised in Lake Hopatcong, New Jersey. His love for musical theater began in high school where he played the lead in Lil Abner at Jefferson Township High. He also won the role of Freddy in My Fair Lady and sang the feature song "On The Street Where You Live." Michael always wished to pursue musical theater. However, for practical reasons, he earned a degree in manufacturing engineering. He was married for 28 years and raised two children. After retiring three years ago, he was very fortunate to unexpectedly meet Michael Larsen. Mr. Larsen is a professional musical theater producer/director of Broadway and Off-Broadway productions, and for 24 years taught at the Stage Door Manor Performing Arts Center. Mr. Larsen is a master professional voice teacher. A twist of fate brought them together, and Mr. Larsen invited Mr. May to study with him after hearing him sing. Mr. May studied under Michael Larsen for over a year.
