KALMUNITY is Canada’s largest and longest running black arts & improv collective of multi-disciplined, linguistic & cultural creatives boasting a local membership of over 60 creatives that was founded in 2003 by Jahsun & directed by Preach Ankobia. Best known for producing 2 weekly events which take place Sunday & Tuesday night in the city of Montreal. Kalmunity has released 2 live albums as well as a collection of literature entitled ‘The Talking Book’. Named 1 of 5 best places to take out of towners, Kalmunity has inspired & collaborated with hundreds of creatives including members of Arcade Fire, Nomadic Massive, Bell Orchestre, D.bi Young, Gage, Meghan Patrick, Alan Prater, Malika Tirolien and have performed with & alongside legends such as Public Enemy, Toots and the Maytals, Iba Mahr, Sa-Roc, Ethnic Heritage Ensemble, Brother Ali & many more.
