Rising Star is an Indigenous Early Childhood video series produced by the Northern Territory Music School in Darwin. It's all about encouraging regional and remote younger kids to engage in reading with family members as well as instructional play. Rising Star collaborates with Families as First Teachers (FaFT) incorporating basic literacy and numeracy skills through 3a (Abecedarian Approach Australia) evidence-based and learning strategies for childhood educators and parents to use from birth to five, working towards building 'school ready' skills. Enjoy and stories as we talk, read and play to learn. Episode 8 and onwards were planned and linked to the Northern Territory Preschool Curriculum. All animations are based on the Northern Territory LearningGames resource used in Families as First Teachers (FaFT) programs. Early episodes have engaged the remarkable creative skills of indigenous performers such as June Mills, Ali Mills, Rob Collins and Emily Wurramurra.
