Duke Ellington wrote: “Any time you have a problem you have an opportunity. If you had just seven good tones, those were the tones that had to be used…”
The Seven Tones Project is an educational public service that brings together quarantined musicians and filmmakers to make short homemade films based on Duke Ellington pieces. The goal is to give everyone something fun, meaningful, and creative to do, help raise artists' profiles, and bring some beauty into our world. How it works:
- Each musician makes a home recording of a Duke Ellington piece. Solo or overdubbed group performances fine.
- The recording is sent to a filmmaker, who, inspired by the music, makes a short film.
- Completed films sent to a dedicated Seven Tones Project via dropbox. (contact info below)
- Upon acceptance, all films posted to this channel and Seven Tones social media with links to each artist's website, social media, etc.
Professionals and students welcome!
