In August 2023, Leo Napier found himself on the brink of early retirement. After his father, Hugo Napier, found Leo in his apartment, incoherent and semi-conscious, he took immediate action, calling emergency services and saving his son’s life. Leo underwent emergency coronary surgery. At one point, his vital signs dropped out completely, and he was pronounced dead for almost two minutes, before being miraculously resuscitated and stabilised by the surgical team. “One of the first things that hit me upon regaining consciousness after the coma was that, had I died, I would have taken all of these songs to the grave with me. Hundreds of tunes, never heard. From now on, every song I’ve written is going back to the people I wrote them for, and you know who you are. These songs are for you, as much as they are for me.
