The Makoro John Mpe Foundation was founded in 2022 by Mr. Mosema Makoro John Mpe, who is the current Executive Mayor of Polokwane Local Municipality, Limpopo Provincial Chairperson of SALGA, and the Chairperson of the African National Congress in Peter Mokaba Region. The founder was born and bred in the village called Mamatsha, in Ga-Molepo, on the eastern side of Polokwane. Since its inception,the Makoro Foundation has organized various activities to meet, amongst others, the following key objectives: • Provide school uniforms and other means of support to needy learners and students; • Provide social support such as food parcels to the aged, child-headed families and the destitute; • Provide an enabling environment for sportsmen and women to showcase their talent through various programmes; • Build a healthy society and promote social cohesion through the Annual Makoro Village Marathon, the Annual Top 8 Tournament/Community Games and the Annual Makoro Village Lifestyle Music Fest.
