The Union Theatre opened in 1928 as a Vaudeville Theatre, quickly became a movie theatre, and then over decades it not only became a hub for entertainment for Attleboro and the surrounding communities: it became so much more. It was a space for family and friends, a place where everyone wanted to be. The theatre has been closed for nearly 25 years, as its owners quietly took care of it, waiting for the right opportunity to present itself. That moment is now, as a local nonprofit arts education company has signed a lease with the owners and, working with a dedicated team, has launched a Capital Campaign to reopen The Sleeping Beauty. This space will not only be home to illuminate arts co (illuminateartsco.com), it will once again be available for movies, concerts, comedy, theatrical performances, and so much more.
