Launched on 18 July 1967 by the late President Yusof Ishak, the Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) has since become an annual event organised by the Ministry of Education (MOE) to celebrate the achievements of our youths in the co-curricular activities (CCA). Over the years, the SYF has evolved to reflect the changing times. Starting in April with the SYF Arts Presentations and culminating in SYF Celebrations in July, the SYF engages students from schools across Singapore in the Visual and Performing Arts CCAs. More than 30,000 students participate in SYF activities and performances each year. It has been, and continues to be, a signature and milestone platform in Singapore’s educational landscape for honing skills, building friendships, strengthening bonds and creating a common, shared experience for our youths. SYF showcases the artistic talents and vitality of our students, and reflects MOE's belief in a holistic education and the importance of the Arts.
