Hi, my name is Vanessa Watson. I am South African although I have lived and worked in Switzerland, and various other countries around the world as a horse rider. I learned to ride when I was very young. Eventually, I became a competition rider and have also trained horses in all equestrian disciplines. I helped to train Olympic horses in Switzerland. This was an exciting opportunity but more importantly it helped to focus me on recognizing problems with muscles, ligaments, tendons, etc. and learning how to recognise problems and develop the correct exercise plan to release pain, tension and tightness in the nerves and muscles.
Years later, my body started to become painful from the wear and tear of riding. I developed lower back pain and had awful sciatic pain. I also had a major car accident. I found I had to analyse my body the same way as, the horses that I had trained.
Pilates has been the key to my recovery. I have experienced how Pilates can relieve you from pain and tension.
