Northern Minerals is a mineral exploration and development company with interests in heavy rare earth elements, specifically dysprosium, lutetium and terbium. Northern Minerals has large landholdings in Western Australia and the Northern Territory which are highly prospective for these elements. Through the development of the Browns Range Project (WA), Northern Minerals aims to be the first significant world producer of dysprosium outside of China. Dysprosium is a key element in high performance permanent magnets, it makes them more powerful and more efficient, characteristics that are essential in achieving optimal performance in energy intense applications such as hybrid and electric vehicles, With secure tenure, primary approvals and licencing in place, the Project is well-positioned to meet its targeted construction date in 2016, and production in 2017.
