Mehrnoosh Zolfaghari is a professional musician, composer, Santoor player, and performer based in Finland. While she is a multi-instrumentalist, her principal instrument is the Santoor, a traditional Persian dulcimer capable of performing numerous folk modes and “Dastgâhs.” She has been playing the Santoor for over 20 years and teaching it for more than 10 years at leading music institutes in Tehran, Finland, and internationally.
She currently teaches Persian music and Santoor at the Sibelius Academy.
Mehrnoosh earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music performance from the University of Tehran, College of Fine Arts, graduating as class valedictorian, and completed a second master’s degree in Global Music at the Sibelius Academy in Finland.
Her artistic mission is to introduce Iranian music to audiences worldwide, blending traditional sounds with contemporary influences. She is also deeply engaged in global music and has participated in several international projects.
