Soapbox Science Sydney (SSS) is a free, interactive, public engagement event showcasing the cutting edge Australian research carried out by aspiring and established female researchers in the Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths and Medicine disciplines. Picture an iconic backdrop (well at least an iconic Zoom background!) and 12 enthusiastic female scientists (sitting at home on soapboxes) wearing lab coats who are given 1 hour to present their research to anyone and everyone who happens to walk past (or stumble upon their live stream). SSS aims to engage all facets of society in STEMM, especially those who wouldn’t otherwise come across science in their daily lives, and to promote a public dialogue around important scientific issues. SSS also aims to inspire younger generations to engage with STEMM subjects and explore them as career options.
