"Black Jax —The best band ever to come out of Monterey Park, in my humble opinion. Their sound was a mixture of English punk rock circa 1977 and early ‘80s Orange County hardcore. They didn’t have a bad song in their set. Singer Pogo commanded the stage like a pro, emoting every line while bouncing all across the stage. Although the band officially broke up in 1986, they reunited occasionally for gigs, and Pogo fronted all-new lineups through the following two decades before passing away in 2008. A collection of two early demos was legitimately released on disc in 2001 by Wankin’ Stiphs Records. A rumored album of later demos has, to date, not materialized." -- Jimmy Alvarado, Razorcake Magazine
